At Vellichor Wines, we have a devotion to high elevation vineyards. High quality fruit is sourced from a select number of hillside vineyards across the Sonoma and Napa counties. It is our belief that these vineyards contribute a terroir unique to their appellations and have their own stories to tell.
Windsor Oaks Vineyard
The Windsor Oaks Vineyard spans 700+ acres on the border of the Russian River and Chalk Hill AVAs. The viognier sourced from this vineyard comes from a higher elevation block of 500+ ft in the Chalk Hill AVA. The Cabernet Sauvignon comes from a block at 400+ ft elevation that is notorious for slow-ripening. Named for the “chalky” white soils of the region that contain volcanic ash, sand, and silty loam, Chalk Hill brings out the best in Rhône varietals and varietals that shine in the face of adversity, such as Cabernet.
